The Grampians
![]() | ||
The Grampians are five impressive sandstone ridges which run north to south and offer panoramic views of the region and a number of walking tracks and lookouts. There are four major destinations within the Grampian region and each offers something unique: Halls Gap is the tourism heart and offers the best entrance to Grampians National Park. Dunkeld boasts beautiful scenery, featuring in many famous Australian paintings. Wartook Valley is an unspoilt outdoor traveller’s paradise and Pomonal is famous for its wildflowers, nurseries and gardens. |

The Grampians Reviews

Let us start our journey in the area surrounding the Grampians. This is a truly superb, rich and diverse area of Australia that is called the Western District. The townships of Dunkeld, Ararat, Stawell, Casterton and Hamilton hold many wonders and are truly representative of rural Ausralia. It is rich in farming, the Arts, history and people. It is the birthplace of the Merino sheep in Australia, and the farming traditions are beyond anything found anywhere else in Australia. Here you find yourself surrounded by the most beautiful, lush, and serene parts of nature.
Next we venture into the Grampians National Park. You can see this whilst driving in the coutryside which circles the park. Once entering you find yourself lost in another world. A world embraced by nature, and one that takes your breath away at it`s mere sight and discovery.
You have now entered a world that was once inhabited by the oldest culture in the world, the Australian Aborigine, and their existence and culture is found everywhere. You have entered a world seemingly suspended in time, where the beauty, power, grace and tranquility of nature abound. A place where you can literally hear yourself think. You can imagine how it was, how it is now, even how it is going to be.
There are wild animals, wild flowers all around, and everywhere you look there seems to be a different one in every nook and cranny. You can scale mountains, ford streams, walk spectacular mountain trails, be completely alone or simply relax and take in the serenity of this truly remarkable area.
As described, this area sits at the end of the Great Divide, and when the area surrounding it was broken down some millenia ago, it became an oasis, sitting majestically and spectacularly alone, for all to admire. It is a beacon, a shining light of nature that will live in your memory for eternity
Once discovered you will want to come back time and time again, for an experience that will never fade, but rather draw you back forever. For an experience like no other, take yourself and those you love to see this magnificent, ever changing and truly amazing are of the world, you will not be disappointed I promise.
