Noosaville, our slice of heaven, Sunday, 29 June 2008

Noosaville, to me has everything, a beautiful location situated on the magnificent Noosa River, Noosaville offers something for everyone, leasurely walks along the riverside, playgrounds, parkland, picnic area's, plenty of seating, to enjoy the activities the river has to offer.

The colourful ferrie's, with their cheerful and knowledgeable skippers, peacefully transporting visitors and local's, from Noosa to Tewantin, with stops along the way, boat trips to the everglades, adrenalin packed speed boats for the thrill seekers, and fishermen enjoying the abundance of opportunities on the river.

Yacht races watched whilst enjoying a cool drink or meal in the yacht club, the river is amazing. Noosaville also has to offer, excellent cafe's and first class restaurants, good shopping with many trendy boutiques. It is an ideal base to explore the many places of beauty on the Sunshine Coast, only 5 minutes drive to Noosa beaches, Hastings Street, famous for it's shopping and mouth watering foods, Noosa'a famous National Park.

Eumundi Markets, a short drive from Noosaville, famous for the diversity of the goods on offer, the country carnival atmosphere, and the friendliness of the local stall holders. A spectacular drive from Noosaville is the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Mapleton, Montville, Maleny, beautiful villages, sitting along the rim of the Blackall Range, immaculately maintained villages, with craft shops, curio shops, local produce and craftsmanship, cafe's and an abundance of wildlife. Definitely worth the drive, gently climbing to the top of the range, with panoramic, spectacular views, absolutely glorious.

Within walkin distance of Noosaville is Tewantin, a peaceful harbourside town, which hosts markets every sunday morning, along the harbour, and from Tewantin 4 wheel drive enthusiasts can access some excellent beach driving, 40 mile beach, an impressive stretch of beautiful white beache's, drive along the beach to Double Island Point, or explore the Great Sandy National Park with access from the beach.

A little further north is Tin Can Bay, where, one of their best kept secrets is - the hand feeding of wild dolphins, the most amazing experience, standing in the bay, with dolphins silently swimming by and taking fish from your hand, definitely worth the drive.

There are so many other amazing places around Noosaville, you really have to visit and find out for yourself. The most beautiful part of the day for us , every evening, the glorious sunset over the river, truly amazing. An experience not to be missed.

A perfect Noosa weekend escape...Arrive late Friday afternoon and stay on a waterfront place if possible otherwise check in and head to a somewhere where you can take in the water experience. Have a drink at Cato's and people watch for an hour or so. Mosie down to Zacharys for a pizza. Take a stroll along the waterfront and drop in to the River bar at the Sheraton for a live music session and nightcap. Saturday, inhale the air and walk to the beach and further into the National Park if you have the energy. On the way back stop at the bakery for breakie or try Seasons or any of the the delish places. Back then to your lodgings for a rest. Then down to the beach for a surf and sunbathe. Lunch - where better a view than the Surf club - casual, relaxed and very Australian. Good food too. After a nap or kayak on the canal grab a shower and venture out to any restaurant or perhaps try fish and chips from Quamby place to be devoured by the River. Sunday -there's markets and shopping but there's Noosa!!!!!I love it.

A Sails beach front restaurant oyster drowned in red wine vinegar - balmy strolls through national parks breathing in the salt and tea tree oiliness - the yearning to own your share of the architecture of a Sunshine Beach house bearing down on you in all its glass, stone and wood perfection - soul soothing afternoon laughs erupting from the Sunshine Beach Surf Life Saving Club from salty-tanned revelers clinking icy beers in gratitude - a quirky escape to the Spirit House for inexplicably unorthodox thai in a posh hinterland dugout - a crusty french baguette from the Sunshine Beach deli if they haven't sold out already ...

I went to Noosa 5 years ago, and I have travelled to other places but nothing compared to my Noosa holiday. The Sheraton Resort offers all the comforts you need, and is in a prime location to the famous Hastings Street, shops & beaches. We hired a car and went to Australia Zoo, and the stunning Fraser Island isnt too far away. Eumundi markets are fantstic, the people are sooo friendly. Its a very family safe place. Outside of that, you have superb views, clean beaches, breath taking sunsets, excellent restuarants, boutique shopping and a great place to relax in the tranquility of it all. I cant wait to finally go back one day with my husband and show him what I have been raving about for years... There is no where else in Australia I would reccomend!
The ultimate escape, Monday, 30 June 2008

Noosa is the ultimate destination for a relaxing holiday. Start the day with a lazy breakfast and coffee and Bistro C overlooking the beach, before taking a stroll along Hastings Street for a look at the shops. Retire to the beach for the afternoon, taking a quick break to grab a Massimos gelato (the best in Australia, without question). The evenings are well spent sipping a few cocktails at Kudos, Cafe Le Monde or even at the Noosa Surf Lifesaving Club - with a goregous view over the beach to watch the sunset. Noosa is a foodie paradise, so head to one of the many fabulous restuarants for a long dinner, filled with amazing local produce and seafood, and more cocktails of course! Then after a good nights sleep, wake up and do it all again!
